Meet the Mongers

Kate J. Truini, Owner

“Kate is an expert in area cheesemaking and local dairies. Through her business, her new retail space, and her educational appearances, she supports regional agriculture and access to and appreciation of the best available cheese and dairy products.”

Kate found her way to cheesemongering through an interest in fermentation, real food, and local food systems.

She received her BA in Interdisciplinary Art from Alfred University, and went on to earn a Masters in Food Studies from the American University of Rome, during which time she studied the intersection of food and art in rural communities. She holds a certification from the Institute of Sustainable Nutrition in Granby, CT, with a focus on soil health, human nutrition and kitchen medicine. She has mongered behind the counters at Greenwich Cheese Company and Saxelby Cheesemongers.

She grew up in the Litchfield Hills of Connecticut.
